they set more questions when each question holds less marks
But questions that hold less marks are usually easier.

    Updated solutions.

This was a really tough paper.

Q1. Lots of students will miss the difference of 2 squares.

    Q2. Standard, pretty easy.

Q3. Standard, but never an easy one.

Q4. I think both parts will cause a lot of problems.

    Q5. Very easy

    Q6. Very easy

Q7. I think this will cause problems

Q8. Not that bad but lots of marks will be lost (as I showed!)

Q9. I think this one is really hard, I don't think many will get a) ii) correct.

My guess would be 50-52/75 for 80UMS

Are you kidding me? Or are you one of those people that gets 100% in every single module, and would commit suicide if you get 99%?

loooool, no! I've never got 100%, my highest has only been 93. I just didn't think it was as bad as others found it I know I lost quite a few marks, but I don't know

I think the paper was harder than others, purely because there was more room for silly mistakes in the questions. I can see myself doing a retake on that because the amount of mistakes i made is quite high
^^same. When do results come out for Jan exams?

    number 8
you solutions include 45 and 135 i plugged that into the top original equation and you get math error ...
please tell me you dont need those two aswell!!!!!!!
    thanks

    and number 9
part ii) b) when drawing that graph (x-1)^2 + 3 you can include the value of 3 therefore isn't it fg >= 3

    thanks

60/75 is 80% so what they usually have as an A, but if the boundaries go down for it being hard then could be better :P
    Still gotta nail C4 though...

Right, Ive done 3 mistakes on the whole exam paper. Can anyone tell me how many marks I lost?

On question 6, I drew the graph of f(x)+1 (missed the -x for some reason)

On question 8 I said that there are no answers for Cot2x = 0 (I couldnt remember where tan = infinity) so I only got 2 answers from it, not 3
    (45 and 225)

    On question 9 i) b) I only got to ln(3^x) + 7x+2 = ln(15), then I got stuck

I did q8 using some next method and didnt get any sort of 0 error, at the end i got cos4x - sin4x(something like that) and then i used the Rcos(4x+alpha) to solve it and got like 4 answers

fg(x)>3 as domain of g(x)>1 so we cant use x=1
