Can i get some advice. Basicly ive got offers for my 1st and 2nd choice UNI's. Its just i've a really good friend where i am currently and i dont wanna (basicly) abandon him (he is hoping move into a house with me next year). but another of my very good friend seems set to go to the other uni. I'd like to stay put, but i'd have to commit to a house and if i dont get the grades, then ive pretyy much ****** one of my best mates over. Suggestions?

Sorry if any of that was unclear

You pick a uni based on where you want to go not where your friends are going. Chances are they'll ditch you when you get there anyway.

Yeah i know and i agree, it just so happens two of my best friends are at/going to my favourite 2 choices. Thing is, its the same course for both uni's and im more than happy to go to either. and although possible, these people will not ditch me, trust.

Have you been to both unis to visit? You'll get different vibes off both and hopefully that may make your decision easier! I know it's hard but try not to follow what either friend wants you to do, only do what you want.

At the end of the day, the majority of the time people lose touch with their 'best' friends with the thrill and excitement of uni. Several of my friends went to Nottingham Uni this year and despite 2 of them being in the same block as each other in accommodation, and another 2 doing the same course, they barely socialise with each other anymore apart from when they come home.

Yes ubrellahead thanks, you've basicly said what ive been thinking. Its just such a hard choise, maybe my grades will decide for me ey. Still i know ill get to see these people no matter where i go. But on the people losing touch with their 'best' friends, ive already moved away from most of them and we still see each other plenty.

Time to move on with your life your school friends can't hold your hand forever.

Choose the university you prefer, you'll maintain contact with your friends if your close enough friends. Besides, you may end up falling out, then what?

Don't move in with them, move into halls! Seriously, life and you all will change so much that I have doubts you'll stay that close for long.

I was sad about leaving my 6th form friends when I went to uni. Am barely in touch with any of them now after 3 years and don't care one bit since I've made so much better friends now.

People change so much while they're at uni. A relationship which seems it will last forever when you're 18 may be just a distant memory once you get to 21/22.
