I got a letter today from University of Northampton asking me to attend an interview next month. Here's my dilemma:
1. I'm from Northern Ireland and it's really inconvenient etc for me to fly over. It's not short notice I suppose, it's 4 weeks but a bit of a hassle (Money, disabled parent who I look after etc)
2. I applied for the same course last year and they gave me a reasonable offer without interview
3. Nowhere in the prospectus or the website does it mention interview so I was a bit surprised by this letter!
I mean, yes I'll go to the interview but it's going to work out as a real hassle. I applied to places that didn't require interviews because all my universities are in England and also Northampton gave me an offer without interview last year... I'm just a tad confused.
Do universities do phone interviews or anything? Is it worth my time contacting them?

Maybe they want you to come to interview because they want to know why you're reapplying. My advice would be to phone them and see if they would consider a telephone interview (also mention your disabled parent, I'm sure they will be understanding).
