This Saturday the EDL (English Defence League) are staging a march in the main town centre where I live and to counteract, the UAF (Unite Against Facism) and students from the local university are also holding one.

Asides from this being ridiculous because where I come from we dont have a strong Muslim population and well ... its the EDL!
I was wondering how much trouble this will all cause for a city centre that isnt very big? And should I bother going up the city centre as I need to?

Has anybody ever experienced an EDL or similar march in there city? What are they like and what are your views of said march?

I don't really care, but be sure to open up a burger van for the day - there will be lots of hungry people, you could make a killing.

Probably not much since the police will most likely be out in force. But no matter, just silly people who will never get in power, so I agree with the burger van idea.

The EDL (like the SDL, Scottish Defence League) are Christian Zionists. These groups would not be out of place on a march to the Holy Land.

Here's the WDL, another Zionist led group:

    Totally agree.

******* liberals. They still think they're the voice of the next generation or anti-conformist or some other BS. I'm going to set up an anti-students protest. We will be armed.

If it's anything like Birmingham then I'd recommend staying out of the town centre. I had the displeasure of being caught up in the last 'protest'.

You need to realise the difference between thuggish neo-Nazi groups and an ideology that calls for a Jewish homeland in the Middle East.

In fact, reading your comment again, you say "Christian Zionist"... "Zionist ideology holds that the Jews are a people or nation like any other, and should gather together in a single homeland. Zionism was self-consciously the Jewish analogue of Italian and German national liberation movements of the nineteenth century. The term "Zionism" was apparently coined in 1891 by the Austrian publicist Nathan Birnbaum, to describe the new ideology, but it was used retroactively to describe earlier efforts and ideas to return the Jews to their homeland for whatever reasons, and it is applied to Evangelical Christians who want people of the Jewish religion to return to Israel in order to hasten the second coming. "Christian Zionism" is also used to describe any Christian support for Israel." I don't think that's quite the main goal of the EDL...

The UK is a hotbed of mixed Zionist groups and affiliates:

That's why the 7/7 bombings occured; that's why we had 9/11. Our allegiance to Israel has proved to be a rather bad omen.

I do realise that, but I also realise the aspirations of the Zionist organisations that surfaced at the turn of the century (and indeed before that time); their agenda was to make friends with the Christian Church in the UK;to get into the Halls of Power; the government (as Disraeli did) in order to bring about the fullfilment of their ancestors' dreams. The Neo-Nazi groups you mention are nothing more than the outgrowth of a Zionist ideal; Nationalism or National purity.

People tend to forget that Zionism is fascism and it is racist, as well. Even the Talmud is evidence of that!!

But not for Jews. More like a white, Christian homeland in the UK with no Muslims.

And I understand what you mean now.

Don't get me wrong, I share your dislike of the french and I am far from a liberal leftist tosser. On the other hand though, I respect the French for one thing, they have their government in check (or atleast more so than us English). Some famous guy said something along the lines of 'when the people fear their government there is tyranny; when the gov't fears the people, there is freedom' .. its in someones Sig on this site. But i agree whole heartedly with that view.

Just because you don't have a strong muslim population in your area doesn't mean the EDL are going to walk this.

The UAF will come and chase away the Chavs just like they've done everywhere else in the country.
