my dad has just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, were waiting for the test to see if its spred so at the moment im just trying to convince myself that he will be fine and there just remove the prostate.... however, theres that feeling in the back of my head thats like he might not be ok etc.... what i realy wanted to know is if you have cancer are you ill? i mean like do you feel unwell? or is it the treatments that make you feel ill? i say this becuase he doesnt feel unwell, so does this mean that it proberly hasnt spred? or does cancer just not make you externaly ill?

    thanks for your help

Cancer would not make you feel ill until it was well advanced. Sorry, I can't give you the reassurance you want. Waiting for test results is the hardest thing ever, you keep imaging the worst case scenario. Do you have long to wait? I hope it turns out well for you.

Hi, first of all I'm really sorry to hear about this and I hope your dad gets better really quick and that it hasn't spread.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancers, and a large of proportion of males have it in their older years without knowing because it is doesn't cause any symptoms, and 30% of males get prostatic cancer but of those 30%, only 10% show clinical symptoms. So the majority of men can have it and it doesnt cause any problems at all and won't ever cause problems. Have a read of: http://www.patient.co.uk/health/Canc...e-Prostate.htm

The symptoms usually are with urinating, but it can also cause back pain if the cancer spreads to the back. But I think there is a very low chance that it is dangerous about 3%.

All the best, I hope everything is okay for your dad.
