you let a hairdresser pierce you?!?!
It's a professional and fully licenced salon that also specialises in piercings too

I'm getting mine pierced again next week, I'm so excited! It grew out the last time as the ring keot getting caught on everything so I'm having a bar this time. Hope yours is feeling better, it'll probbably be a bit sore for a few days and maybe when you try to sleep. Did you have it pierced with a bar or a ring?
Bar all the way

Although my friend today said that she thinks they're (or at least the rings) are tacky and out-of-trend now, so she doesn't wear when anymore. I was a bit annoyed at her, as you can imagine

Anyway she has a piercing, so she can't talk :p: Besides, I can always just not wear one when summer gets here. The hole is tiny, so you can barely see it, but it's good to have just in case you want to prettify the abs area a bit.

Good luck with your piercing!

You can't change your bar for at least 8 weeks. Anywhere that tells you differently is wrong (unless they say longer).

I still wouldn't have recommended going to a hardresser, even if they do specialise in piercings. But it's done now.

Bathe it in salt water (1 tsp to 1 pint water) at least twice a day at first. Then after about a week you can do it only twice a day, and after about a month do it only when it needs it. This is approximate as your own healing will vary. You should put the salt water into an egg cup/shot glass and swirl it around on your tummy for about 5 mins. It helps to have a towel handy. Also, you may prefer to slightly warm the salt water, but that is optional.

If you do choose at any point in future to not wear any jewellery through the hole it may heal up. It isn't fully healed until at least a year later, but even then if you take it out for extended periods of time there is a risk it will heal over. You can get plastic bars called retainers that are practically invisible but will keep the hole open. You can't use them while you're still healing, and shouldn't use them for longer than necessary though.

And never sleep in any jewellery except the bar you are pierced with

I have to say I'm yet to understad why people are so willing to mutilate themselves in the name of commodity fetishism.

Agreed.

No it doesnt! On some people maybe, but it can look nice if you have the right body for it. Do you think it looks repulsive on people like Britney Spears even?

Yes I do, not that I see Britney Spears as all that talented anyway. Dido is both more attractive and more talented.
