It's usually best to try everywhere you think you could stand to work - also look online as more shops have online applications nowadays, even if the staff in the store have told you there aren't any vacancies (they don't always get told).

I've been told primark and McDonalds will take anyone, so you could try there if you like folding and frying things.

Look in your local paper, online and in shop windows. Also, ask your friends/family if they know of anything.

Make sure your CV is good, get others to check it for you and give you advice on how to improve it. Then print out a LOT of copies of your CV and go round every shop/cafe/rerstaurant in your local towns, hand it in and ask for them to read it; even if they say they have no jobs, MAKE them take it anyway and contact you in the future... most shops won't read it again, but a few might!
Go on websites like monster, jobs direct etc.. to find jobs you might not have thought of.
Ask friends and family if they know of any jobs, let everyone know you are looking for a job so if they do hear of something they will think of you! Good Luck!
