Yeah, I usually have Heart or Magic on even though they both seem to play similar songs. My alarm clock doubles as a radio so I use it when I'm drifting off to sleep.

Radio 4 and 6 are quite good. And i'll always listen to Desert Island Discs if someone interesting is on. Unfortunately, I missed the Morrissey episode...

I'm actually sick of Radio 1 and it's awful music. My local radio station (heart) is sooo bad for adverts, I just turn it off after 30 seconds.
I listen to ridiculously mainstream stuff so R1's fine for me

And about the adverts, yes I agree. All local stations are like that, unfortuantely. I worked in my local station, Spire FM for a week (it's part of the dreaded TLRC network) and the adverts every 15 minutes drove me INSANE. But it paid, so that's ok :woo:

Only when my iPod runs out of battery, I don't like driving in silence. I agree OP - I use the internet to find music too.

Occasionally, only usually when I'm in the car, or in the mornings when I dress up for the day. It mostly on KISS 100, I like the discussions and games the presenters have (Ricky and Melvin), and some of the music is cool.

Because you can't beat the :love:shipping forecast .
    LOL! Too true... :p:...

On a serious note, I listen to The Hits radio when I'm doing work/revision really quietly sometimes... unfortunately it kept repeating that annoying Starstrukk & Katy Pery song like every half hour and was giving me even more anger than I already had :p:... so I've not listened to the radio for a while...

so you think 'talk' is what drives radio these days not necessarily music...

I just don't see how the Radio can evolve, i mean there is the Analog switch off but even in Digital mode, if the radio has no substance it will just die off, i reckon.
Exactly. If you're just playing music, nobody will listen as they can just go home and open up Spotify or iTunes and play their own music. The reason why Scott Mills and Chris Moyles are so popular is because they're so funny. They have regular fun features, which are not only a pleasure to listen to but get listeners involved.

Obviously you get your specialised radio shows, like "In New Music We Trust" on Radio 1 which people listen to so they can find new artists they like, but on the whole commercial radio is talk driven.

Sports coverage and live discussion are the reasons I still listen to radio. No longer listen to it for music really, I do think its outdated in that respect.

Yep, I listen to Radio 6 in the mornings, because it plays good music, and the presenters aren't dicks.

I like listening to the shipping forecast in the bath. Radio four is a national institution. BBC seven is pretty good too.

Music on the radio hasn't been the same since John Peel died though. Sniff.

I like to get a random selection of songs that I don't have to pick myself to listen to, and that feeling you get when a really great song comes on is great!

I could use shuffle in iTunes, but I have loads of different genres of music, and I get really bored of going through it if I want one specific type (My Genre listings are not complete)

a few years ago, i used to listen to it in the evening when they had the random punk shows/ rock shows on radio one and would record songs i liked on my mp3 player [*sigh, those were the days of zenny zen the zen micro... :P]
    anyway, i digress...
chris evan's teatime show used to be on when we had tea, but since he's gone to replace that annoying wogan's spot, i hardly listen to it... unless ofc i let myself have a lie-in

I can't believe the show of support for Chris Moyles on this thread, he's an overgrown obnoxious kid, the fact people actually tune in to listen to that drivel actually makes me lose faith in the human race.
