I was 3 marks off a C in an English GCSE resit - I was given the option to pay £20 for a remark or do another resit.
Is it worth paying for, and what are the chances i'll actually get those 3 marks?

I wouldn't have thought they'd be willing to concede that the first examiner was "wrong" to award you the mark you received, so I don't think the remark will help. That's probably not what you wanted to hear, but I'd still resit the exam - if you don't do any better, you get to keep your high D, and if you do, you get a higher mark!

I would consider a remark, in my opinion, because my sister that got a C in her english language, 2 years ago, got a remark and it went up to a B! She was around 4-5 marks off to a B.

    Its worth having a shot.

It might be worth asking about the possibility of receiving a photocopy of your exam script. This will need to be done through your school or college. It will allow your teacher to look at the script and assess the quality of the work, which will allow you to reach a decision about whether it should be re-marked.

It is worth bearing in mind that there is a fee for re-marks (as for photocopied scripts, but this is less). The money is only re-funded if the grade changes. It is also worth considering that grades can go up as well as down, but this is not likely to happen in your case because you are near the top end of a boundary.
