How many calories a day should you be burning (App) in order to lose weight?? I mean, whats a healthy amount?

Depends on many factors, e.g. age, metabolic rate, activity levels, how much muscle you have, etc. An average fully grown male, who is just mr joe average will require about 2500 calories per day as his maintenance rate, so to do it safely but slowly it is probably best to go for about 2000-2200 a day, and increase the amount of exercise you do.

Whats the best type of exercise equipment one should use in order to burn calories?

Seems like ur a starter.........IF u want to luze calories ... do a 20-30 min Cardio session.

u should cut ur daily calories intake by around 300 calories. burn 300 calories daily. so 600 calories are gone in a day. considering that burning 1500 calories is losing one pound, it will take u 3 days to lose one pound at such rate.

IN order to lose weight what you need is a calorie deficit, ie you need to burn more calories that you consume, alone with the correct diet I would reccommend going running or walking 4 x per week for about 40 minutes. The link above is quite a good one perhaps check it out.

Its estimated that 3500 calories are in a pound of fat, not 1500.

If you were going to buy one piece of equipment then a cross trainer (also called an elliptical trainer) is a good one. It's predominately cardio but you can vary the resistance on it as well to help build some lean muscle. It's low/no impact as well, unlike a running machine.

I don't have access to a good gym and I could only afford one piece of equipment, so that's what I bought. I figured I can always get on my bicycle or go running outside, so a treadmill or exercise bike would be a waste. And a cross trainer burns more calories than either of those because of the combination of resistance and cardio.

is that right?
Hmm, maybe should try that this week. Will be able to lose 2lbs before the missus arrives. even more if a have a nice big dump at the end of the week lol.

no its kinda wrong.. imasilly narb said its 3500 cals per pound of fat, and also you wont simply burn 300 calories, I think he means burn an additional 300 calories, eg. a 25 miute jog. personally I wouldnt eat any less, just do more exercise to lose weight as this is healthier than just eating less to get the same calorie defecit
The best thing i find that burns calories is not the Cross Trainer but the Running Machine (Treadmill), as it just keeps going and you cant slow down when u get tired, unlike the Cross Trainer. Also if you work out using weights its going to turn fat into muscle which actually weighs more and will cancel out your fitness work.

FAT AND MUSCLE ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TISSUES! YOU CANNOT TURN ONE INTO THE OTHER! Sorry, iv just had to keep on repeating this over the last few days! Possibly the best way of loosing fat is putting on muscle. I takes more calories to maintain your muscle, so it sppeds up your metabolism. For every pound of muscle you put on, you'll burn an extra 30-50 calories a day, without doing anything else!

fat isnt turned into muscle, and it wont "cancel out" since youre still losing fat, which is the important thing. but doing weightlifting to lose fat is not smart anyway.

No, but if you you combine lifting into your routine with cardio, then it is ideal.
