i started college in september and due to personal reasons i haven't been in since october half term and therefore didn't go the january exams i was meant to. there is no way i am going to be able to catch up everything i need to. even if i was going to take the exams in the summer theres next to no chance of me passing with decent enough grades to go onto A2. i've dropped to three AS subjects because i couldn't cope with 4 and i couldn't even handle that.

so.. my plan is to re-take the AS year and start again in september when hopefully i'll be in a better place to be able to cope with it.. but my question is, do i need to inform my college that this is what i plan on doing now?.. or do i just wait until the end of the academic year then tell them that i want to repeat.

it's just.. i'm a little worried. because i saw on my college website that they are full for entry in sep 2010 and have a full waiting list.. does that mean they won't let me repeat the year and because i haven't passed AS they'll just chuck me out?

i have pretty exceptional circumstances so i'd hope they'd be sympathetic.. but i'm really worried. i did email my tutor about it a few weeks ago but i got no reply. she's a bit useless to be honest.

id suggest either you physically go to the college, or at least phone so you know that someone has picked up. im suprised they havent spoken to you before to discuss options

Ask them as soon as possible, if they won't allow you to repeat you'd have to look for other colleges. In the meantime study hard even if you think you'll do bad, who knows you may not need to repeat. I was also in your position and just worked my butt off.

You should aim to talk to them as soon as possible. One of my friends suffers from depression and had to repeat the year at Sixth Form, for which the school gave her permission. If they do not agree, then you will have to look elsewhere - or consider distance learning A-levels.

Talk to someone now - play up your personal problems, difficulties etc.
Because you're college is in demand, it would be best to bring it up now.

The college I wasn't to wasn't very good in terms of entry requirements, and every year there were quite a lot of people who repeated AS year and also many who came after failing AS year at another college.
