I've made three pretty significant incorrect calls about guys at work/on the agency in the past few weeks. :frown: I'm losing my touch...

I don't want to get correct about this, but isn’t gaydar supposed to be based on gay stereotypes? I.e. the idea that gay people have lisps, or wear Gucci and walk in a ‘gay way’?

I've learnt that stereotypes are founded on ignorance and bull****. I know tonnes of gay guys who appear (what you'd call) "straight acting" but I call "being themselves and comfortable in their own skin".

So I don’t bother with a gaydar.

And what conlcusion did you reach? Interestingly the job I interviewed for today is on a research project involving embryonic stem cells!

I reached the conclusion that I am still for stem cell research. I already was when I first read about it a couple of years ago.

But hey, that's awesome! Did it go well? So I take it you're not on the opponent side of stem cell research? :p:

I'm so bored at the moment. Currently watching Total Wipeout videos on YouTube...

I recorded Brokeback Mountain from Film4 the other night because I've never seen it. I'm contemplating going downstairs to watch it, but it's already 2am. I only have work 7pm-11pm tomorrow though and in the day I'm not doing anything other than driving my sister to the train station. May watch it then. Is it good? I can't believe I haven't even seen it yet!

It's very good! But also very melancholic and sad. So it's kind of depressing. But it's worth watching it, so go ahead! :yep:
I actually found that film quite boring :erm:

Good morning everyone. How are we all?

I'm going to revise for three or four hours, then go take out my new D3000 for a test run. <3

Hey gays, how are we all today? I am struggling to get back into revision; currently marking the past papers I did on the train to Leuchars (in my defence, I did them without the formula booklet, and it's not an optimal environment).

Seriously? Who pays for porn these days? :p:

I assumed he meant more tangible items than porn, to be honest. :p:

Personally, I didn't really enjoy Brokeback Mountain that much. I think probably because it was hyped up so much that I expected a lot more from it. Whilst it was kinda moving in parts, I found it a little dull overall. Just my £0.02 though, lots of people enjoyed it!

Unfortunately whilst stereotypes are largely founded on ignorance and prejudice, you can't deny that there's some truth in them. Otherwise they wouldn't have come to exist. whilst it's sad, whenever I look at pictures from my friend's gay nights out, or check out his gay friends on facebook, I see repeating patterns of, essentially, clones. And whilst you can't claim that ALL gay people act/look a certain way, you can't deny that a lot of them do. Whilst the only reliable indicator of someone being gay is observing them being sexually intimate with a member of the same sex, you can make fairly safe assumptions about some people.

That said, 'gaydar' isn't always about stereotypes. There are plenty of people I've suspected of being gay without having any obvious stereotypical identifiers, and not just because I wanted to tap that and was being optimistic :p:

My gaydar is pretty terrible, always has been hehe. I'm often really surprised to find out that people are gay lol. Although there was one guy that for years I had a suspicion about (partially because I wanted to tap that :p: ) but mainly because there was just *something* about him, even though he wasn't camp or anything. He came out a year or so after leaving school, and I found him with yummy pics on Gaydar

Excellent, I approve! Have three science points :yep:

I am most definitely not an opponent of stem cell research hehe. The project I interviewed for a job with is so interesting, I really hope I get it. They're experimenting with methods to differentiate human embryonic stem cells into cardiomyocytes (beating heart muscle cells), with a view to transplanting them into patients that have had myocardial infarctions etc., as currently there's no real way to repair the damage that remains. The interview seemed to go well, and it felt like I got on with the interviewers quite well, so here's hoping!

Snap. I was disappointed. Even if the brutal sex scene was kinda hot.
