Actually I doubt that. No problem.
Me too. OP don't be so arrogant in assuming these people are 'dumb' Good academics at the age of 13-14 is meaningless. There is a difference between being intelligent and merely studying hard. I hope you have a big shock and realise people can achieve more with a weaker work ethic than you and then cry having neglected other aspects of your life

A superior life that has to be the most stupid comment I have ever heard.
How is it? He wants to be a doctor whilst the people calling him names are clearly ignorant and narrow minded.
The last time i checked, intelligence got you pretty far in life.

Chavs thrive on feeling powerful, and they think they can do this by taunting others. The thing is, they have nothing better to aim for than the hardnut reputation, as being smart is socially unacceptable.
Most of the chavs are extremely insecure and want to be accepted by societies *********. For example, get a chav when he is alone and there is none of his butt ******* friends to kiss his ass. I garentee you that he will poo bricks.

Roflcopter, drinking booze and watching WWE on freeview isn't going to get you very far in life. There are too many average joes in the world, and a reputable degree is a way to make you stand out from the crowd.

Unless you pretty happy with a £2 an hour signer.
    i) Where did the OP even metnion they were Chavs?
ii) Usually the "smartest" and most "hard-working" often become the richest even when thier academics are so poor. But to put everyone who doesn't have a good academic record or isn't doing well in school "stupid" or a "chav" is simply and utterly pathetic and ignorant on your part. .

It depends what type of intelligence , the one the OP boasts of doesn't. They end up working for most of thier lives striving to pay bills at the end of the month etc. etc. How can you class someone's life superior to another? Who are you to judge that? Some Doctor has a more superior life than I do as I am just a student?

    i) The name calling if anything should simply make him/her work harder to prove a point. These people are going to be forever around, they are commentators that is all, everyone makes judgement.

They probably assume that you spend all of your free time studying and that's why they call you a saddo. Also, in your post you came off as quite arrogant to be fair so that might be present in real life (I'm just guessing here), so maybe you're asking for it?

hehe. Surely, most of the time if the person really is hardworking and smart, would he not have reasonable academic records? And no, they don't become the richest when their academics are poor through commen sense. They do that through drug money in Somalia; or even through mugging people.

    no can do sir

Hardworking and smart in the real world, not the one Government creates for us turning us all into employees. As an example would you not call Sir Alan Sugar "smart" or "hard-working" yet he has no academic records at all. Common*
Don't be stupid although it does suit you.

Do you even know what intelligence is?

Maybe even: The ability to reason, problem solve, think logically (or even rationally), and to learn.
Or even, in a nutshell; the capacity to understand.

Your logic just said to me, I have a true passion to be a hobo. I'm epic intelligence \../,.

As he goes for what he truly believes in and hence has the capablitiy to understand that people generally go for career prospects, actually I am wasting my time explaining it to you as you can obviously not comprehend the simplest of information.

They do it because you're arrogant. Not because you are clever. Unless you are socially inadept or something.

I'd like to think I'm fairly smart, normally scoring within the top 5 of my year. Occasionaly the top. Yet I've never, ever, been insulted because of my intelligence, or lack of.

It's the whole "It's cool to be thick" culture that is the problem - that's how the ex-temp head put it (some person from the Government had to come and sort the school out because it was placed in special measures). Complete joke ha! I come from an impoverished background you see..

And anyways, when it comes to GCSEs, A-Levels, Uni etc, everyone appeared to become more mature and start taking work seriously. The others on the other hand, from what I've heard are pregnant/sponging off the state/been in and out of prison/ dealing drugs. Okay...

    That isn't intelligence.

I hope that I am not the only one but I am extremely clever and am in Year 9. Im getting level 8a in maths, 7 in english, and 7 in science. I want to be a doctor and im doing 2 of my gcse's early. My RS mock is on wednesday. aaah.

Anywayz, am i the only one who gets called names at skool by less able, dumb students??? eg. boff, saddo, wierd .ect. ect.

Any comments on this topic welcome
How can you say that lol. Intelligent people call less academic people names aswell. The reason you probably get called names is by the way you approach things reading what you have just written you sound a little bit like a toff don't know what that means look it up. You might need to start showing a bit of respect. Not everyone is intelligent some people are better at other stuff like more practicle. So I think you should just watch what you say. I couldn't give a monkeys what your grades are like a peice of paper don't really say nothing, except the fact that you can sit an exam. My dad hasn't got any qualifications and runs a very successful business.

    Not really.
I, and several of my friends, achieve highly, are predicted very good grades, are applying to good universities etc. People dont laugh at us, or call us names, beucase we aren't wierd, or freaks, or nerds.
    We're just intelligent.
Being clever doesnt mean you have to act superior to other people, or brag about it, or just be annoying.
Being more intelligent than your friends doesnt seperate you unless you cause it to happen =s either by making them feel dumb, or acting like a knob.
I'm not saying it's the case for everyone, that would be silly. And I wasn't saying that it's the case now - I haven't been laughed at or called names for years. Generally, as people get older, they get more mature, which would probably explain why people aren't so keen to insult those that work harder than them.

And since when did I say that being clever meant that you have to act as though you're superior? I didn't. I was talking about being more intelligent than the majority of the people you have to socialise with during High School. That's not to call the other people 'dumb', it's the fact that SOMEONE has to be the highest achiever. It sounds like you got lucky with your bunch of people.

From my experience, being more intelligent than your friends can separate you, whether you want it to happen or not. If you're consistently achieving higher grades than them, then they may well feel 'dumb' if they're disposed to feeling inferior. Does that make it your fault for simply doing well? No.

Also I'm not weird, or a freak, thankyou. And I've never intentionally made anyone feel dumb, although there are probably people who would have deserved it. It sounds like you don't realise that some people look on intelligence as just another difference to pick on.
