I'm stuck on this question, I've worked out angles A and B to be 36.9 and 53.1 degrees. But where do I go from here?

    All help appreciated.

    EDIT: Oops wrong forum. SORRY.
    Delete this I'll repost!

I assume that the ring is in equilibrium (not sure if you're told anything else like one of the tensions). If this is the case, then resolve horizontally and vertically on the ring. Remember that the tension in a string always acts in the same direction as the string. From that you should have two equations and then you should be able to solve for W and for the two tensions.

Sorry if this is too late, I know the M1 exam is only an hour and a bit away! Good luck to you

By the way, I notice you're applying to do Mech Eng - good choice! Perhaps I'll see you at Bristol (it's annoying they're taking so long to reply!).
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
