Yes.
Here are the Bar Council's statistics, broken down by gender and ethnicity, for those taking the BVC and gaining pupillage from 2001 to 2008. You may need to use IE rather than Firefox for the link.

You'll see that there is no gender discrepancy on either the BVC or pupillage front.
