I absolutely love newcastle... and I've been offered a place there to do v100 next year.

While I am very tempted by the incredible social scene, great city etc.. I dont know what the history course is like...

It ranked 30th on the good uni guide.. so is this bad?

Anyone out there doing history at newcastle who could tell me what the department is really like??????????

Ignore any form of table rankings for History courses - it's too much of a personal subject to be put into leagues.

From what I know through History research, there are better departments out there. Newcastle's not seen to be producing vast quantities of published work if that makes sense AFAIK but their teaching and resources (things that do matter) could be top-notch for all I know. You really need to look at course content and what you think you'll be happiest studying for three years. No-one can make that decision for you.
