Hey I'm quite simular to you in that I'll be studying in Brighton but at Sussex Uni, I'm also 24 and will also be returning to uni having studied before! I was thinking about second entry, (I do English by the way) but ended up starting in the first year again. I'm also quite nervous as I feel I'm too old for the freshers but too young to be a proper "mature" student.

I know exactly how you feel! It's good to know I'm not the only one nervous! Were you studying English before? I'm not sure about freshers week either I've done all that before. Good luck with uni

Yeah I studied English before at Nottingham. Are you going to be living in halls or private accomodation? I have a place in halls but can't decide where I want to live.

I will be living at home and driving in I live pretty close and it will cost much more for me to go into accommodation. Which halls have you got a place at?

Swanborough. (Which I'm sure you know is on the Sussex campus) Just not sure how I will fit in with all the newly released from home freshers.

Dont worry I am 23 and going to Uni, it will be worth it!:woo:
I'll be starting at uni this year & I'm 25 (I'll be 26 by the time I get there!) and to be honest, I'm glad I waited! I think if I'd gone to uni straight after school, I'd have picked something I hated and would have quit early on.

I've done two years of Open University to prepare for this - looking forward to going to a different sort of Uni now!
Hi, im starting a Bsc in Sociology at City University London.
I'm 24yr old, a single mum and very nervous about the whole thing: coping with work load, childcare for my child, studying, essays and fitting in... just about everything really.

Any other 'mature' students starting City this september?

I'll be 22 when i start  I definitely think i would have made a bad choice if i had went any earlier. I know what I want to do for definite now.

I feel exactly the same, at 16 I had no idea what I wanted to do, it's taken me to reach nearly 27 years old before I found out. My husband is in his second year of nursing and hes 32, and again, he never knew what he wanted to do either until later on.

I am not worried about being one of the older ones if im honest, if anything it will be more fun. I do howver worry about juggling my 5 children and paying my mortgage.

Any mature students going to Reading? I have an unconditional (deffered from last year) for Psychology Mental & Physical Health.

Hiya

I'm 25 and have confirmed my place at Reading for October to study Speech & Language Therapy.

Have you applied for the mature halls? I'm on the waiting list for Hillside Court at the moment. I feel like I could have coped with 18 year old housemates but love the fact that Reading give you the choice.

Hi, I am starting at Herts Uni in a couple of weeks. I am now 32 & until last year had been working full time, so being a student has been a big change. I am scared & excited in equal measures!

Hey, I'm in Sherfield, which is mainly for mature students, although they do allow younger students in, so should be a mixture I would think.

Are you going to the mature student open day?

Hi all,

Just a quick one to say i did my undergraduate at Bristol uni, then had to work for a number of year. I felt that developing skills after uni was a big bonus to future employers so decided to sign up to a postgraduate course at Keele uni. Prob one of the best thing i have done!!!! really good course that helped me, firstly in confidence and secondly in networking, thirdly in more specialised skills in Marketing. I was 24 when I started, and developed a number of younger friends over the year. to be honest, it was a bit daunting to start but once bi fond a nice group of surprisingly mature students for there age, I had a great social and academic life.
My advice is give it a go, its worth it in the end.......

good luck to everyone applying!!!!!!!

Hi All,

Just thought i'd say "Hi". I'm Nathan, went to uni in 2000 but fell ill and have been working for the last few years. However now I am looking forward to going to uni, have applied for Geology at Manchester, Liverpool, Durham, Bristol and Southampton, have had unconditional offers from all but Bristol so far, so got to make a decision soon! At 26 (27 when I start) feel it is time to go back and complete my degree.

Anybody applying to same uni's as me?

Nathan
Hi All

Aplied for essex (Sothend) for social work degree and recieved confirmation of acceptance with a conditional offer. Then the unthinkable after completing 25 years in social care and NVQ 3 and 4 couldn't find the 30 year old Gsce results!
Rang uni and was told that I would have to complete numeracy and literacy level 2 with learning direct within the next 3 mths and offer changed to unconditional until I get the results!
I will be 47 when I go to uni and learning at the quick pace that I will have to do within 3 mths will difficult and hold down a full time job doing shift work.
Anyone going to Southend on social work course? x
