I only have 2 offers, and one of them I've decided i'd rather not go to.
There is another uni I want to go to that wants the same points, but it's a met uni, and could hopefully try get into through clearing, if I don't get the AAB that I need.

Is it possible to just make one choice your firm and not have an insurance? If you can't, I want to withdraw my application, but does this then cancel me out of clearing?

You don't have to put an insurance choice. You can even decline all of your offers, if you want to, but you will not then be eligible for clearing (I think).

You don't have to have an insurance. You could decline all offers and go into Extra. Its a risk though, there's no guarantee that this other uni will take you.

Check on the UCAS site (i'll get ya the URL in a sec) to see if your course is in Extra

EDIT: The extra part of the UCAS isn't up yet. I think the site goes up in mid-Feb. You can apply through extra in the last week of Feb. You could always ring up the uni you're considering going to, explain your situation and see what they say?

    Best of luck

You don't *have* to have an insurance but it does not mean you firm won't reject you if you do not meet the grades - I found this out last year the hard way so be careful.

You would have to be an idiot to believe the contrary.

Check out my signature for links to Wiki pages you would find helpful. You don't have to pick an insurance; if you decline all your offers you can go through Extra until June and thereafter wait for Clearing. If the uni you really want is in Extra it would be wiser to apply at that point: being in Extra does not necessarily mean the course will be in Clearing.

Whatever you do, don't withdraw your application as you will not be able to do anything else this year if you do.
