I would say that was the most intimate thing you can do with a partner.

I guess it depends whether we're talking physically or emotionally intimate...I can't ever say that I've ever had strong emotions for my respective partner when giving him oral...!!

I would of said talking for ages. But anyone 2 persons can do this.
Sex is a matter of 2 persons getting it on with an agreement between the 2 which in my book makes it a bit more personal.

Physically and emotionally. The way it looks is a source of great worry to both sexes.

Guys worry about size and shape, Girls worry about the way they look and the smell. Having someones face right on or in it is going to be scary in case they don't like what they see. Its a touchy subject for everyone.

All of this is from my own experience of course.

Agreed.

A lot of people are more comfortable with sex before even thinking about anything as intimate as oral. The thing is, in today's american-influenced society, oral sex is banalised, as it's not full sex. So some people grow up with the idea that it's no big deal "because my mates told me so".

I beg to differ.
I find it weird how in the base system which you progress through oral comes before sex and most people carry out or recieve oral sex at least once before they lose their virginity, but in my experience after you've had sex with your first partner, all your subsequesnt partners you sleep with before you have oral sex with them, which i think is due to the level of trust and physical intimacy of it. And due to the fact that the only real enjoyment you get out of it is watching your partner recieve pleasure, whereas with intercourse you can do it both at the same time, so it's alot more selfless.

Seems fairly intimate to me...
i would think if you a truly deep and meaningful conversation with someone where you can tell them everything and anything, for lots of people they have sex so early on in the r-ship they don't know eachother fully yet, although physically that is pretty intimate
