    How does part exchange work?

I'm going to buy a new car from this dealer but when I go there to value my car should I take all the car documents with me?

Phone them first and ask for a valuation.

You might do better to sell your car privately.

You need to get two prices from the dealer one for straight purchase and one with trade-in purchase.

    Is this how it works?

    e.g
say if my car valuation is 3000. The car I want costs 3500. So therefore I give them my car and pay 500?

If your car is worth £3000 the dealer will offer you less, they have to make money.
