I was looking through a friend's friend list just now and noticed 2 people have the old white silhouette instead of their profile picture on display. This is kind of privacy setting I want (to people who aren't already my friend) yet I thought the changes last December stopped the possibility of hiding the profile picture?

How is it possible? Rep available.

For those of who might want to know (i.e. nobody), I think the answer is thus:

Settings >> Privacy Settings >> Profile Information >> Photo Albums >> Edit Settings >> Who Can See This? >> Only Friends.

Following those steps should mean that, regardless of other privacy settings, people will not be able to see your profile picture unless you have already added them as a friend.
