Just thought I'd mention it here that the lineup for Download Festival is being announced at around 7.45pm.

Just now, AC/DC confirmed on their website that they will be headlining the Friday (although they also did this by mistake back in November so everybody kinda knew they'd be playing :P)

Other strong rumours include Soundgarden, Metallica, System of a Down, Van Halen and Them Crooked Vultures.

Kind of an aptly named event then, isn't it.

    /sarcasm.

Well yes, as it is called Download Festival, and is a music festival.

Joining AC/DC and following two incredible sold out shows at Hammersmith Apollo before Christmas, are supergroup Them Crooked Vultures. If that wasn't enough we've also confirmed Stone Temple Pilots, along with Deftones, Bullet For My Valentine, Megadeth, Motörhead, Wolfmother and Volbeat, with many, many more to be announced in the coming weeks.

summed up neatly by this poster:

So at present AC/DC are the only 1 of the 3 headliners to be announced.

How much are Download tickets in demand? Like is there a time when they all pretty much get sold out or are they generally always available?

As far as I can tell, it often depends on the line up, last year they took a while to sell out. I got mine at the end of April last year, and they sold out a little while after. However, going on the reactions to this line up announcement, they may sell out the same time as last year as many people arn't too happy with the bands announced so far. If the next announcement is 'better', they may go quicker.
