See there's something wrong with my brain tonight.

I have an 1,500 word essay due tomorrow - and for some reason my brain is moving about as slowly as the porridge that's been in my fridge for weeks.

Since you're obviously smarter than me right now:

Any input - as much as you can! - on any 3-5 min scene from A Clockwork Orange or American Beauty. Or both. Give me a dynamic scene, and help me see why so I can effing write already!

Y'know the drill: mise-en-scene, performances, cinematography, editing and sound - anything that provokes response.

    I never do this!

But this time all my mind is giving me is a blank page - with hopeful-looking question marks on it.

Remember, no matter how little activity is going on in your brain? It's better than my static.

And if 'rep' is needed (?) I s'pose I'll give it? TSR virgin here.

Many...blessings, upon you, and your family...or something.

Don't bother with rep, it'll be worthless, but I thank you kindly for the blessings on my family :p:

No, I don't really know the sort of things you write about. But I'd probably choose the "Pass me the ******* asparagus" scene in AM or the "You're boring! And ordinary!" *****fight between Ricky, Jane and Angela towards the end. And the scene in Clockwork Orange where the man's friends are interviewing Alex just after the man realises it was Alex that raped his wife. There are so many undertones in that scene it's hilarious.

I was thinking about the 'Pass me the ******* asparagus' scene too! I'm just that much closer to picking it now. I'm sure everyone else'll pass you up with worthless replies, cheers

The ending scene seems to me to be the most dynamic, of course fusing together all the characters in each of their own epiphanies - or endings. I don't know, you choose whichever you think has the most vivid examples of editing, light, cinematography, performance. The important thing is that you develop your ideas skillfully and smoothly, not so much the maturity or originality of the ideas themselves. Trust me, I know college - and something like this is simple so long as you navigate your subject effortlessly and confidently, using a lot of specialist film vocabulary and basically showing off.

In the end, that's what they want.

Oh and, one of the major themes in that film is the way the director exploits our voyeuristic side. Make sure you mention that, the word looks real good on paper.
