hi im 37 years old with no exam results because most of my childhood was spent in hospital, i now wish to gain 5 gcse's but have no idea of who to approach or how long this would take to obtain, could someone point me in the right direction please.

Your local adult learning service would be worth checking out. They usually offer a range of GCSE night school classes. It will be listed on the web site of your city or county council. Local colleges will also offer part-time classes in the evenings or sometimes weekends. Check their web sites or call them and ask for a prospectus. Courses usually start in September.

As an adult without qualifications, you would qualify for free adult numeracy and literacy courses that can lead to level 2 qualifications that are in some cases accepted as equivalent of GCSE. They provide a good platform if you want to then carry on to full GCSE. These can be studied in class through an adult learning provider or on line through learn direct. You can usually start these courses at any time in the year.

If this is for employability reasons you could think about a practical IT qualification rather than a GCSE, for example CLAIT or The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL). Again you can probably choose between traditional classroom or online training options e.g. http://www.learndirect.co.uk/qualifications/it_qualifications/
