Wait so now students are complaining that A-levels aren't just regurgitation?
Pretty much. I think the fact you have to atleast contextualize your knowledge (in an extremely basic way lol) is good. It stops all these idiots just learning a past paper and getting 100% - which is exactly what I have done oh so many times

Its still regurgitation, just adaptive regurgitation.

You still need to hit the key words on the OCR Mark schemes to get the marks.
True. Essay questions in chemistry on OCR were the same but always seemed to be far more predictable.
Ah man, I hated biology, so dull. Never really had a problem with the content on OCR, or the papers, but I'm sure they could have jazzed it up somewhat.. :holmes:

Only the whiny student, every one else i know who did this ****** exam yesterday just dealt with it.

I mean do people not know how grade boundaries work, the more people who do rubbish the lower the grade boundary. The Exam boards do consider these things they are not insane.

Why are you complaining about the exam being EASIER than you expected? Compared to the mock it was a breeze.

If you want the A-level you should be prepared to do the work regardless of the exam, that being the whole POINT of an exam. You should know the subject so well that you can apply it in different contexts, NOT just reciting some model answers. NOTHING was out of the syllabus, NOTHING was anything that you shouldn't know already through reading the book.

Jeez. If you want the A-level you should be prepared to do the work regardless of the exam. NOTHING was out of the syllabus, NOTHING was anything that you shouldn't know already through reading the book.
    Are you joking?

True, most of the stuff did appear in the book but the exam layout and quality of questions were dire.

Not really. Our school has been teaching us to read the question to find out what they were asking. It was a weird exam, but remember this is a new syllabus. Maybe they don't WANT candidates who pass just by learning an old scheme.

    Fair enough.

Meh. The seal one was easy if you thought about it. You had to apply knowledge from ALL of the bio you have learnt so far (hence the synoptic element).

But it was a weird exam. Wasn't expecting that at all.

not really. I don't think I did very well regardless.

    I said;

-Streamlined shape so it requires less muscle activity to move through the water (oxygen debt and all that ) (A2)

-Large lung volume so that they can readily intake a large supply of air(AS)

-Thick layer of blubber to keep them warm and slow down the metabolic processes in the liver. (A2)

I think it just threw people because it wasn't obvious what section(s) of the course they were asking for

All exam boards are very annoying. I dislike the exams but if I want to go to uni and earn a decent living I guess I'm going to have to put up with it
