    heyy,
    does anyone know the effect of alcohol on plasma cell membranes...ive searched the net, and its mostly come up with complex answers, but in simple a level biology does anyone mind explaining it to me....

    Lipid is soluble in ethanol. Cell membranes are made (mostly) of lipids.

    Alcohol is able to diffuse straight through, as it has a non-ploar end.

    This is why it is able to affect the brain; it can cross the blood-brain barrier.

    I'm not sure you can have a high enough concentration to affect the membranes without killing yourself.

    Though ifyou dunked a cell into alcohol, it would dissolve the membrane
