have i messed up my degree?

I've somehow managed to really mess up a piece of coursework and got a result that is considered a 'fail'.

What does this mean for my degree? have i lost my honors? Is there any point still continuing with my studies?

Feeling really down at the minute, I really wanted my degree so badly, but it seems like its slipping away.

OK, first of all calm down. There are a number of possibilities, but there's not much point in panicking and speculating about which of them might apply to your particular case.
What you should do now would be to check your course handbook / the exam regulations if you have them. One of those should tell you how your faculty normally deals with with this kind of situation. If for some reason that information isn't there, go and talk to somebody at the faculty office and ask them what the exact implication of this failed piece of coursework are.
