Hey everyone, I've sent my application off to a couple of Universities here in the UK and was wondering about one thing. If I accept an offer now and is somehow prevented from entry in September, will there be any consequences? (like a fee you have to pay or something else).

    Thanks in advance.

No, all you have to do is contact the university and explain why you can no longer attend.

If you have already paid for halls though, you might not get some of that money back.

If you accept an offer you are technically entering a contract so therefore you need to uphold it in the same way the university is expected to uphold their end and accept in the autumn should you meet all of the conditions. However, in reality they can not force you to go so you can pull out, yes.

However, as has been said, if you enter into accommodation contracts etc with the university then you probably won't get any of the money back that you've already paid to them. Additionally, if you chose to reapply to the same university the following year they would obviously be aware of your previous application and the fact you bailed out on them. There are not any fines or anything though which directly relate to the fact you've pulled out of the agreement.
