I've already sorted out my accommodation as I want the best chance of being in Endcliffe, but out of curiosity - are loads of the flats single sex? Cos I'm thinking that wouldn't be as good as mixed flats

Yes the majority are single sex. I'd say as much as 80%
DONT worry though, I paniced about that too, but its kind of better in many ways.
From what ive seen lots of the mixed flats keep themselves to themselves and don't socialise that much in block things. Single sex flats always want to find the opposite sex so tend to make much more of a social effort. It was always the single flats I met that seemed to know the most people!

A lot of them are single, but a lot are mixed, it seems to be fairly random. For example in my block there are 9 single sex and 1 mixed. However as a single sex flat of 10 boys, i have 10 girls below and 6 girls opposite so there is plenty of chances to integrate with both sexes.

As far as I know the whole of Froggatt is mixed. Apart from the ground floor flats which are all boys. I always forget that others are single-sex. Ranmoor flats are mixed too, so I think maybe they're tending towards mixing people more now?

In my building most people seem to be in mixed flats. It seems that the flats of six are single sex, while the bigger ones are mixed sex. (That's only what I've learnt from my building though -could be different elsewhere.) Most people I know are in mixed flats, but I don't think it matters much anyway.

Well surely if loads of people select on their application to be in a mixed flat then they'd realise that they should have more mixed accommodation? So perhaps more people are choosing mixed flats now? I dunno, I shall just have to wait and see I suppose - luck of the draw and all that. (If I even get into Endcliffe that is!)

Froggatt does have some single sex flats, the C and F blocks I think. I would say there are less than 80% single sex in Endcliffe, perhaps more 60 single, 40 mixed? The mixed flats tend to be the bigger ones of 8 and 10 people.

There's benefits of both to be honest, I would agree that the single sex flats tend to know more people as they want to know flats of the opposite sex whereas the mixed flats are perhaps more enclosed. However, I have heard some bad stories of intense *****ing in girls single sex flats, someone I know even had to call in their residential mentor to sort it out. Personally, I would always have gone for mixed!- and am at the moment.

In our block in Rivelin we have 4 single sex flats and 4 mixed flats, though I thought mixed was the more common arrangement. At first I thought it was just us being all guys seeing as we're on ground floor but there's an all guys flat on the second floor too, and two all girls flats.

It depends on block. Howden for example, was mainly single sex. Froggatt mainly mixed. They are upping the number of mixed sex, thats definately true.
They tend to keep the same flats as single or mixed each year though.

Larger flats are the ones that tend to be mixed, such as 8 or 10 persons.
