    Cupcake Queens, I need help...

I'm having a Black & Gold themed party (21st! :woo: ) - I reckon I can make black cupcakes with food colouring (or just make them dark with tons of cocoa) but what about gold?? I can't find gold food colouring, icing, or anything! And where can I get edible glitter??

Anyone got a good basic vegan banana cupcake recipe? I have no eggs and prefer using soya at home.
I've been going crazy with cupcakes recently, for breakfast this morning I had a lavendar and lemon cupcake from Waitrose, yesterday I had a turkish delight cupcake from Slinky sweets in Bristol, the day before lunch was a carrot cupcake from Absolutely cupcakes in lyme regis, last week I had a pistachio cupcake from Le Maison Blanc.
    Gosh.
    How do I post pictures?

hmm, I definitely remember tesco's selling golden royal icing, plus some specialist food shops sell gold leaf (apparently its edible) silver dragees are available too, maybe supermarkets have them in gold?

I bought pink glitter from asda the other day, surely they'll have that in gold, too?

I did banana and chocolate cupcakes, following no recipe the other day, and they came out really well.

I used 2 ripe bananas, 3/4 cup of golden granulated sugar, 3/4 cup of oil, a couple of tbs of soy yoghurt (I had some in for something else, but it would probably be fine without, due to the bananas) and 1 1/2 cups of self raising flour. I then added about half a bar of good dark chocolate, chopped to make chocolate chips. But you could leave that out if you just want plain banana.

All my friends said they were really good, and I was very pleased with them, to say I'd kind of improvised the recipe.

It made 12 cupcakes, but I filled the cases quite full, so they were almost muffiny, because I wasn't icing them.

Thanks, but I don't really like chocolate (weird I know)...
    Would it be okay without?

Also... today do I eat a cupcake for lunch or 'a proper lunch' ie. a sandwich

Yeah, I'm sure they'd be fine as just plain banana. Or you could add something else (dried fruit, nuts?) to break it up a bit.

Sandwich and a cupcake! Or sandwich for lunch, then save cupcake for a mid-afternoon snack with a cup of tea!

    Maybe I'll use sultana. Thanks
Hmm unfortunately it's a choice between both, I'm low on money with no packed lunch in town... it's either egg mayo sandwich, sundried tomato and goats cheese galette or raspberry and white choc cupcake... lol

Dont know if you still need it but Hobbycraft? or card shops have them, me and my sister got some gold stars but there were loads of other things. And its one of those tiny testtubes like £3 but we only used like a sixth decorating a large chocolate cake and some fairycakes.

Here are some cupcakes I made, a couple of weeks back now, for a friends birthday! It was my first attempt at relatively 'pretty' cupcakes.

The cakes were just plain and the icing was strawberry buttercream complete with plenty of pink food dye and a sugar flower on top. I'll probably have another go soon because they were quite fun to do.
