I have a short (2,500) word essay to do entitled:
Is the 1645 volume of Milton's poetry Royalist? Discuss with detailed reference to at least two poems.
I'm probably going to go with Lycidas and Comus
My main problem is that, as far as I can tell, the 1645 volume is as non-political as possible. Which is remarkable for someone who, then, was regarded primarily as a pamphleteer. I suppose this would be a significant point. But not quite enough for an essay.
The closest thing I can find to any political agenda is Milton's advocacy of a Presbyterian church. Episcopacy being one of the root causes of the war with the Scots.
Any extra info would be really appreciated! Thanks
