I like the general idea, I like to send close friends cards and little presents.

Its just something sweet and fun, why not do it? why no mothers do or fathersday? its a day to show your appreciation really.and don't quote me saying "but we can do that everyday any day" that's not the point.

because i would rather be 'sweet and fun' on a day when im not basically told to be

I don't think theres is anything remotely romantic about buy your partner a card/chocolates/flowers or jewellery because shops say you have to. If a bf bought me a valentines gift I'd think they were really lame. Turning up with flowers or a card saying how much you love someone is so much more special and thoughtful if its given on a random day where you're not expecting it. Luckily my boyfriend agrees with me

If you need a day to celebrate loving your partner then do it on your anniversary where its a special day unique to both of you and not everyone will be celebrating it with their partners.

I like to pretend that I hate V-day and slate it to everyone that mentions it, but secretly I love it.

Only when I'm not single, obvs.

I've never celebrated it before, but I'm looking forward to doing so this year. I don't know why people make such a big deal out of it though - there's no need to be depressed about it if you're single, or feel the pressure to prove anything if you're a couple.

if single then is kind of a normal day however with a lot more couples out and about especially night time which can be more uncomfortable, when with someone then is kind of just another day but just have a date at a restaurant

yeah you're right! screw christmas. next year when i have a cold on christmas again ima tell my family to piss off, i don't have to do **** because the bourgeoise system tells me to! i'll give them their presents on december 28th or some thing... (i will still want my presents and christmas dinner on time of course.)

see the thing with christmas is ive celebrated it every year for the past 28 it years so for me thats a hell of a lot different to valentines day

Doesn't really mean much, it's purely a marketable scheme set up to get people spending. I mean Christmas is marketable but it's a religious holiday and celebrates the birth of a religious entity..but valentines day? However, I have no choice but to pretend to believe it's such a great wonderful day because most girls expect it...and to be fair if it's a special day for her then I'll celebrate it because it's special to her not because it's valentines day.

i realise there are differences but the majority of people in this country celebrate christmas because of the presents and stuff and it's similar to valentines day like how they used the history and culture of it to make an excuse to sell us stuff, (or to "tell us what to do")... the fact that firms recognise demand for stuff on these days doesn't make them bad... i just don't get what's wrong with it, none of the arguments make much sense to me...
i just find it pointless when there are 363 other days you can show your love for your partner

i would much rather me and my bf did something on a day that was more personal to us

Why are there only 363 other days in the year for this? are you retarded and think there are only 364 days in a year or do you think valentines day spans over 2 days or something?

or maybe you just dont think outside the box and realise i dont count christmas day as most people dont spend it alone with a partner

Just another made-up holiday made to suck the money out of you.
I mean, why not be romantic the whole year round, why just a day?

I'm not fussed, but every year she seems to want to do something so yeah. I find something nice for her, take her out and that's one more day where she doesn't moan at me for farting in her bed and pulling the covers over head.

I see no difference between VD and any other day.
    - Girl cooks me dinner
    - Girl gives me head
    - Girl cleans up
    - Sex
    - ???
