Empirical formula watch

1. I can do questions in the format of:
1.4g of nitrogen combined with 0.30g of oxygen

But I really can't get my head around these types of questions:
0.69g of sodium forms 0.93g of an oxide of sodium
0.24g of carbon combines with 0.64g of oxygen

Any help, as little as possible would be appreciated
2. "0.69g of sodium forms 0.93g of an oxide of sodium"
So there'll be 0.69g of Na, and 0.93g-0.69g = 0.24g of O

"0.24g of carbon combines with 0.64g of oxygen"
Surely this is the same as the first question format you mentioned?
3. Thanks. Exactly what I needed, 1^ for you...
