I have a question for you; what do you think Universities think about me, as an EU student, asking for a phone interview instead of coming face to face? And phone interviews in general.
I'm an applicant from Finland, and have so far been invited to an interview at Northumbria University for their Design for Industry course. Haven't heard anything from other schools yet, so might get more interview offers. I'd rather not travel several times back and forth.
tl;dr: What's universities' opinions on phone interviews?

One university I applied to actually offered me an interview by phone because of the distance I would have to travel to get there. I did however decide to make the effort and had a face-to-face interview. I'd email the uni's and ask, worth a try.

I am currently a University student in Canada and got asked for a telephone interview probably due to the distance and not to affect my studies.

Different uni's have different policies for this. I know Oxford requires all European students to come, but offers all others the possibility for a phone interview. I'd imagine most uni's have something like this, but if you politely email them asking them wheter or not this would be possible it's worth a shot. If they say no, you have to come, they won't retreat the invitation, and you can decide then wheter or not you want to fly over.
