I am applying for masters degree with university which is asking me to submit average GPA instead of compulsory GMAT requirement. They say that if my UK university can calculate average GPA, I won't have to submit the GMAT. I got 2.1 for my undergraduate degree. What is that in GPA, how is it calculated? Can I calculate it or must I contact my former university for this?
    Thank you all.

You've answered your own question (They want your undergraduate university to calculate your GPA equivalent and not you )

But can a UK university do this?
Probably. My uni has this table where US graduates can convert their GPA marks into the UK bands (second upper, first etc)

By feat of reverse calculation, I assume one can get the GPA this way.

Yes, they should be able to do this. Many people from the US take PG degrees in the UK and they have to calculate equivalency, so they should be able to work it out the other way

If you have problems, there are commercial companies that many US universities recognise for providing equivalency information on applicants but they will charge you for this service so best ask your undergraduate university first. The commercial companies include www.eres.com and www.jsilny.com

Great. Thanks. I'll start by asking my university.
