Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu has again tested positive for a banned substance, the Italian Olympic Committee has announced.

The Romanian marksman was sacked by Chelsea in 2004 for taking cocaine that also earned him a seven-month ban.

Mutu has since rebuilt his career with the likes of Juventus and now Fiorentina, prior to his positive test following their win over Bari.

A statement from CONI, which acts as Italy's anti-doping body, revealed traces of the substance sibutramine were found in a sample provided by him following the Serie A match against Bari on 10th January.
Positive

The statement read: "CONI announces that a positive test has been confirmed on Adrian Mutu with the presence of metabolics of sibutramine found in tests done by the FIGC on January 10 after the Serie A game between Fiorentina and Bari."

Mutu scored in a 2-1 Fiorentina victory and it remains to be seen what action, if any, the Italian football federation will take against the striker.

The ex-Juve man is reportedly facing a one to four-year ban if the results of his first sample are indeed in breach of Italy's anti-doping regulations.

Fiorentina, who qualified from the Champions League group stages but have slipped to ninth in Serie A after a poor run of form, were not immediately available to comment.

All this after he was crying saying he couldn't afford to pay the £15m he owed to Chelsea, now Fiorentina will probably sue him as well. Should be fun

Sibutramine, usually available as sibutramine hydrochloride monohydrate, is an orally administered agent for the treatment of obesity, as an appetite suppressant.
Side Effects
A higher number of cardiovascular events has been observed in people taking sibutramine verses control (11.4% vs. 10.0%).[6] In 2010 the FDA noted the concerns that sibutramine increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease.[7]

Frequently encountered side effects are: dry mouth, paradoxically increased appetite, nausea, strange taste in the mouth, upset stomach, constipation, trouble sleeping, dizziness, drowsiness, menstrual cramps/pain, headache, flushing, or joint/muscle pain.
One of the worst appetite suppressants ever?

Doesn't he still owe Chelsea about 10 million in compensation? Not likely Chelsea will see any of that money now that his playing career will be effectively over.
