    Nottingham is better overall
Much, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better overall. People recognise Nottingham as a truly superlative institution. Loughborough is good in a few subjects, otherwise . . . meh.

One of which happens to be engineering? Passing by the fact that Loughborough consistentally beats Nottingham in the overall league tables every year, who cares if it's only good for a few subjects when all your interested in is engineering? The only real advantage Nottingham has over Loughborough is the city itself.

I think Loughborough is meant to be more highly regarded for Engineering.

I've applied to Brunel, L'boro and B'ham for civil too.

Every time I see your sig, I just sit and watch it until I snap out of a weird trance like state :o:

OP: which do you like better? Look at the social factors on top of reputation. Usually you'll be pulled to one more than the other.

They are both extremely good universities.

YOU choose which one you are more drawn to . .

Normally i'd say Nottingham, mainly because the city is much better than Loughborough which is.... well, not great Also Nottingham has a better reputation overall (I know its not reflected in league tables but it just does! eg. notts is in the russell group).
However, Loughborough is much better for engineering, although Notts is still pretty good. Top 20. Have you visited them both? that may swing it for you

Nottingham definitely has the better overall reputation and 'name'. L'boros current ranking isnt very representative as its only there cos of student satisfaction, and before that it was really low, like in the mid 20s, early 30's, whilst Notts has always been top 10-15

Also as L'boro still has the 'sporty but not much else' tag, and the city/campus are pretty miserable, I'd choose Notts

Rankings mean nothing, sorry, Loughborough's a good institution, but Nottingham has a better reputation i must say.

I would go Bristol , mainly due to location. What is boils down to is which campus you prefer.

    L'boro or Notts?

    L'boro of course :yep:

Both good. I'd choose Nottingham for the city, as seen as they're pretty close (Nottingham edges it for overall stature if you ask me but I'm no engineer).
