I'm a gap year student and was considering doing Physics. I already have A-levels in Bio, Chem and Maths. I just think it'll keep my brain active. So is it difficult? I do have a good grade at GCSE but I'm guessing it is a huge step above from that like the other sciences. If you could briefly include some details in your response that would be great.

It's hard but much easier if you done any mechanics modules in maths. Its quite a big step up from GCSE but if u work through everything properly it should be fine

The Maths A-Level will do you good, but I've heard that Physics is meant to be the toughest subject at AS/A-Level.

If you got an A level in maths, AS physics should be a breeze.

Yes, I have done M1 but does it go beyond that because I haven't done M2?

Is the pope catholic?
Yes its hard, but youll have a whole year to work on it when you feel like it. Id say go for it, but then again I have a very bias user name, dont I?

As physics have M1 - M4 at time ... like Circular motion !

It feels a bit tricky sometimes but it's not too bad. I got a B overall (ACA in the modules) without too much effort. Besides, I got a D in M1 but found the maths ok.

Is it one of those where the past papers will be the key to success?

Its quite challenging but you already did maths so its shouldnt be hard. I did it without maths which i found quite hard. Also A2 is significently harder than AS in my view. It should be fine.

Srsly.

Wtf.

:eyebrow:

Circular motion comes up in Physics 4 which is like M2.

SHM comes up in Physics 4 which is like M3.

Where did M4 come into AS Physics?

AS Physics is very very very overrated in terms of difficulty.

I had something stupid like 8% attendance last year ---> A overall.

Shows how much GCSE it contains and how it's not that much more difficult than triple science (I got an A* in that and remembered most of that stuff).

But yeah, the 'calculations' puts people off?

They're the easiest part, it's putting numbers into a formula...

It's the understanding that can be a little tricky but not that tricky in AS, tbh.

Read the specs mate, you will see whether you like it or not.

Good luck.

It's pretty tricky at first but once you've got to grips with it then it's worthwhile doing.

Mechanics was the first module which wasn't too bad.

I'll hooke your law.

I liked it but quantum stuff was more fun.

A/S physics is easy doable (so that people don't kill me). A2 physics, now, that's not easy.
If you've done M1, the first module should be a breeze(well the mechanics part) (well, for Edexcel).

Definitely, although spending 2 weeks learning about young's double slit made me feel like killing myself:p: :p:
