    Dont know if i can help, i have had councilling before, it was due to my parents breaking up when a was in year 5 / 6. (Im now 19) . They were there to listen, and to guide me in the right direction, and helped me be positive etc.
    As for the insecurities, i used to be quite insecure, when i was in high school, then i came to realise that if people were making an instant judgement about me without getting to know me, then they were the people not worth knowing.
    I do think it is worth considering counciling , and maybe seeing a doctor about the depression.
