Basically there's this girl who I go to college with who is my friend but at the same time I really dislike her. We used to get on really well but one day she was in a bad mood and text me loads of nasty texts calling me a b.itch and other nasty stuff for no reason whatsoever. She accused me of copying her because I want ot be a midwife and told me that she wanted it and deserved it more than me. Petty or what?
She did apologise eventually but now I've seen her true colours. She is such a b.itch! She can't keep a thought or opinion to herself and is constantly playing people off each other and writing snide comments on facebook which are most likely aimed at me.
Anyway, we're applying to the same unis for some unknown reason and we both want to go to the same one. But her being there really puts me off going. I like to start out in a new place completely on my own so that I can be myself and make new friends. But I know I won't be happy if she's there. We won't find out if we have got a place until March but am I being completely petty by feeling this way?
I don't want to live with her or have her on my course or have anything to do with her after college because she has made my life hell. I don't know what to do.

Apply to the university you want to. Usually, most unis have more than 2 people attending their institution And I'm fairly sure more than 2 people will be doing midwivery (fery?) too! Dont let one person put you off going to a university.

Obviously if you're going to the same uni you're just going to have to live with that, you can't not make her go to that uni if she wants to too. But, make sure you're definitely going to a different halls of residence, and then I would just distance yourself more and more this year to the point when you're not even sitting next to each other in lectures when the time comes. That means, short answers when chatting on FB/MSN, not replying at all occasionally, then never organising stuff with each other.

you shouldnt let her put you off achieving your dreams ... and at uni's there is more than one class and they do have more than 2 people in it just go for it ... she might be just jealous someone is better than her she does sound like a b.itch x
