I'm choosing my A levels and one of the subjects I'm really interested in is Ancient History (rather than Classics ie. literature). I'm thinking of taking Biology or Chemistry, Archaeology, History and Geography. Would this allow me to take Ancient History with the humanities being a strong enough combination? Some university sites don't even mention Classical Civilisation and others (like Durham) say
"Not at all, but you will have to make sure that your personal statement demonstrates clearly why you want to study the classical world and how this desire relates to the rest of your studies. You will also need to convey to us that you are familiar with the subject and the sort of material you will be studying at university. If your interest was piqued by reading or activities outside of school, tell us about them."
So is that 'it doesn't matter' or a 'we may consider you'. Any help?
(I put this in the Classics forum but haven't got a response as yet so I'm trying a few other forums.)

i don't think it really matters what your subjects are as long as you show that its ancient history that you want to study. i took english lit, art, history and classics and ive chosen to do classics at uni. my friend is doing ancient history and she took geography, english lit, history and music. really don't think it's a massive prob, just justify your choices in the personal statement. hope that helps x
