Why do boys like slugs, snails and puppy dog tails?

Good question. Perhaps cos hearts are usually pink, and girls like pink (god knows why, I hate the colour, it just doesnt work with ANYTHING...sunsets maybe) and because that particular shape is aesthetically pleasing. Also, it represent 'feelings', and most girls think they have very meaningful and important feelings, and so need an appropriate image with which to express those feelings, as they can't describe it with words, because words are hard.

I assume you mean the '<3' kind of heart, otherwise..yeah, its an interest in cardiology

So we can write boys names inside them
because they're pussies
It's the whole pink is for girls blue is for boys thing isn't it? I think it's just conditioning, it doesn't really make sense to divide colours, symbols etc between the genders...but how/where did it all begin? I don't know :s-smilie:

:lolwut: This isn't the reason.....:nah:
Its been stereotyped I guess - girls are usually brought items with hearts on from a young age and therefore will accept it as being something that girls generally like. Just like boys are usually brought things with footballs and rockets etc on and usually for most of their childhood and possibly adult life will continue to like these sorts of things. This prob won;t be generalisable to the whole population though.

I like the heart in general as I am interested in physiology and pharmacology.

Girls like love, and hearts symbolise love. Ergo, girls like hearts.

Guessing because from a young age, clothes they wear, things they buy are pink and have hearts on generally. So I guess they get brought up with them :s-smilie:

Oooh ohh oohh I heard from a friend who saw on QI that blue was originally associated with girls and pink with boys, because blue is the colour of the Virgin Mary, and pink for boys because red is supposed to represent masculine strength, but pink is a weaker version of red and thus represents youth, i.e. boybood
Or something like that... No doubt someone will correct me!
Andnow it's obviously changed for one reason or other that I don't know.
