if u have a grid with unit lenght . for example a tiled floor. and if u have a needle (or a stick) . with lenght l and l is smaller than the unit lenght. if u throw the stick on the grid. the probability that the needle will lie across on one of the lines is 2l/pi therefore if u conduct that experiment about 40000 then u will get a very good aproximation. some pple have done it. look up on buffon.
