Hello. I have to choose what courses to take at college. The amount of times i hear btecs are rubbish and are for idiots really puts me off but here is the course.

If i took this course i could take two other a levels next to it. But i also have the option to take 2 other a levels insted of the btec. There is a computer science and ict course which are both a level. Would it be better to take btec or 2 more seperate a level courses?

    Thanks for any help.

BTEC would be more useful if you want to go into IT as you'll have practical experience in detail of working with computers. The A Level option would be of more benefit if you wanted to do something else as well other than computers.

Taking the Computer Science and IT A Level sounds like the best plan if you are sure you want to go into IT.
Taking Computer Science and IT A Level with two others sounds like the best plan if you aren't totally sure as you could then get into other courses using the other A Levels you chose

alot of ******** is spread about BTECs, im currently doin a BTEC national diploma for it practitioners and i think its brilliant, you get hands on experience with computing and you dont have to worry so much if your not very good with exams (although exams are replaced with deadlines :P). I got told that id never get a place at uni with a btec and that i might aswell do a levels but i stuck with the BTEC and ive been accepted to the uni i really wanted to go to
