    Hey...Just out of interest...

Do you think less people have applied to go to University this year due to the economic down-turn, as they will be unable to fund it????

I don't think they will have, student loans are easy to pay off in the long term.

Also people are drawn in by the fact that hopefully after finishing uni they will get a better paid job.

Statistically, the number of applicants this year has increased by around 5% due to the difficulty of obtaining a job.

Many more matures are taking the opportunity to apply this year I think, since they have lost their jobs or feel their current field lacks the prospects.

Vocational courses like medicine seem to have gone up especially, UCAS had I believe 10% more applicants this year for med.
