Basically i'm at uni but i am in a strange situation whereby i live by myself in my own house as i wasn't given halls.

The thing is it's starting to get to me that i have nothing to do when i go home, and am finding myself making any excuse to get out of the house and am hanging around at uni for no reason other than i don't want to go home.

I go to loads of societies but the freshers never seem to hang around much afterwards instead going back to whatever plans they have with flatmates etc.

    Any advice guys?

Tell whoever it is that runs your university's accomodation that you're not happy living where you are and ask to be transferred to halls, or at least a house with people...

invite people over, cook dinner for them, watch films ect. then they'll probablly return the favour so you wont be stuck at home all the time.

Knock one out. I'd watch porn all day/have girls over all day if I lived alone at uni!

i know its not directly related but...:teehee:

if it were me i'd just read books and write all day tbh - but not everyone's into that - there's nothing wrong with going out with friends and stuff, or invite people around keep trying with the societies i think would be the best answer

if you have a spare room, try to get a flatmate, it may save you money and atleast you have a little companionship.

    or get a pet.

    I like this idea :teehee:

OP, it depends on what you like doing. Study, read, watch daytime TV, invite friends over, go to the cinema, join a book club, do an evening class, join a non-uni sports team...

Walking around naked/perpetual ******* does get boring when you've been living alone for 6 months, was good for the first 2 weeks.

In response to all the serious answers. Cinemas is an absolute rip-off so nobody goes. Watching films is a good idea, but i live an hour away from anyone else, bit out of the way and people aren't keen on coming all this way. This works the other way that when people are doing stuff like this in halls it's always an absolute trek for me to get there.

I was actually looking after my cat for the first semester and it was an absolute nightmare as i had to come home all the time in order to feed her. Now if i go for a night out i don't have to spend £20 on a taxi home and can actually crash at someone's in halls.

I'm having everyone over for the superbowl next week and i guess i'll just go for more societies and try there.

Thanks for all the comments though, i quite fancy building a fort now...
