It's like saying, whats the point in watching tv? I love fiction, it's fuels my imagination and gives my head a break from the crap in uni or halls. Plus it helps your vocabulary somewhat

The same reason you watch films, and play games, suspension from reality is a joy we have bestowed to ourselves being a creative species. I imagine a life of facts and reality, without the joys of culture, is little more than a existence.

    As the topic.

Surerly, you may learn something new but than wikipedia is 100 times superior if you want to learn.

Why would you want to waste your time reading fiction?
Don't you mean 'more than 100' times?

Most of Wikipedia is fiction, but people read novels because it's to escape reality - maybe read about someone who is in a similar situation to them, but is made of the right stuff to be able to make things right.

    Get a grip.

Films are mainly fiction as well. There's really no point to anything in life if we think this way. People find enjoyment in other things.

Because the imagination is the most amazing part of the human mind and should not be wasted, besides, its just a bit of entertainment. Anyway, Einstien said the reason for his genius was his imagination, you need to stimulate it.

Escapism. It's exactly the same reason why we listen to music, watch films, play games and watch TV. Feel free not to, if you want a life of boredom that is.

    Escape.

    As Blanche Du'bois said

Wikipedia will not so effectively get you to put yourself in the shoes of another. Being able to truly appreciate emotions and viewpoints other than your own is an important quality, and just reading lots of impersonal facts won't get you this.

Also, you learn how to better express yourself through your own words.

To let your imagination run wild.

If you need that explained maybe you don't have the capacity for that.

Escapism. Once you're into a really good book it's better than any TV show, film or video-game.
