    Hi all,

I'm already signed up to a postgrad, so this is more out of curiosity than anything else...

Anyway, I've found that whenever you look for a university to study at, and you contact then to request a prospectus or some more information you always get bundles of stuff talking about the:
    • great location
    • great atmosphere
    • cutting edge research
    • excellent facilities
    • blah blah blah

But what is most important for you when your looking to study - I have a young family, so clearly the location was perhaps the most important factor, but what was it for you? (Clearly that fact that they teach what you want to study - but what else?)

I picked Durham as it has a postgrad college, also its beautiful surroundings.

    Other important factors:
    How friendly/supportive the lecturers are
Am I in range of shopping facilities
Does the department have a good reputation
Is it reasonably close to a railway station
Does the uni/college have many groups/societies
    The placement/class times/days

Sounds like you did quite a bit of research on it. Are you happy with your choice?

I start this September, I think I will be happy with it. I had an offer from Warwick which made me reconsider a bit as they seem to be on top of things - when it comes to getting the pre-start stuff done, such as crb checks. I have also never seen such a friendly university as Warwick, the staff were amazing too.

Congrats on the offer - and cheers for the comprehensive reply.
