Why have you chosen a specific university to study?

Hi Everyone,
I would really appreciate some advice, I have an interview coming up in 3 weeks and i'm quiet nervous as this university is my first choice. But I was just wondering, I know during the interview stage they are going to ask me why do I want to study at their university and I don't want to give a generic answer! Like for example, well I hear it's a good place to study etc!!

If possible, could you please give me some advice on how to express correctly why you would have chosen a specific university etc
Thanks in advance for any help, i'm extremely worried and could do with any help provided.
i chose bristol becase
-opportunity to spend 3rd year abroad (currently in canada!)
-good course, liked the modules
-amazing labs, newly refurbished
-v respected academic staff and department
-respected university
-lovely city
-away from my home town so i had to move out
-no one from my school was going there.

thats mymain reason for liking Bath so much for Maths atm :P
Well if you don't know why you like your first choice why would anyone on a forum know? lul
A university will want to take in people who want to study there - so focus on the course.

Find out as much as you can about the course structure ( I assume you've probably already done this bit anyway) and be prepared to talk about your interests in some of the particular modules.

You could also look at what makes your chosen course different from courses at other universities - a particular module or opportunity (year abroad etc) not offered elsewhere is a good academic reason for choosing a university.

Good luck

This is true OP, you have to think about what it is about the uni made you want to go there and if you can't think, maybe its not the right place for you? Just go through the prospectus or the uni website and just highlight or write whatever sticks out to you... It might help you or it might not lol

no way! my sisters got her heart set on bath for maths too.
Well, I chose the one I am currently at out of desperation and thinking I couldn't improve my English grade with the retakes I was doing. But I have.

So, I chose to transfer to Lancaster this coming september because it is a respected uni, great for my Literature course, in the top 20 targeted by employers, really good accomodation, nice city, closer to home (therefore cheaper to travel home at holidays!), I visited it and it had a great atmosphere. I felt like this was the place I was meant to be all along.

I chose La Trobe university because it is among the top ranked universities in Australia. The university has excellent faculty and great infrastructure. The comprehensive library in the university would help me greatly for the successful completion of my course. The university also offers good recreational facilities which is necessary for the physical and mental relaxation of a student. The university also has a high reputation in the world job market. When I did a detailed study about the courses and curriculum I was greatly impressed by the contents of La Trobe university. Moreover 9 out of 10 suggestions which i got were for La Trobe university, so I had no doubts abut which university to select.
