Hey guys, just gotta say there are some gross details here.
I have a cold at the moment, just a regular cold, runny nose etc. The problem is that obv with colds you have excess mucus in your throat. I can't seem to get rid of it though, thats the problem. I can't spit it out or swallow it down and its making it hard to breathe, the only way it can go is by throwing up - I'm not even forcing it, it's just coming out. I've been doing it every morning for the past few days [I'm not pregnant lol!] what can I do?
I had the same problem before xmas too, but before that I've never had anything like it and its driving me mad, I've missed too much college for it to go on any longer and my troat can't cope any more
Already been to the doctors, they won't do feck all for me and it's not going to clear up for another week but I can't miss any more college. I dont even feel ill

You just have to throw it up it's what I did when I had that cold a few days ago. Make sure you drink something beforehand though. I get it bad in the mornings sometimes and it's the only way I can clear it.

Edit: Maybe not.

It sounds like what you need is an expectorant. Guaifenesin is the active ingredient, I think Robitussin is one of the brands you can get. This helps loosen the mucus, theoretically making coughing more effective. Failing that, inhaling steam and having warm honey and lemon drinks can help a bit sometimes.
Anyway, you should know all about this, youre applying for medicine! :P -good choice by the way!

Alternatively, try drinking lots of fluids. Sip water regularly.
